Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and The FilmGays ("the club", "we", "us") for using The FilmGays App ("the app"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Who we are, and who the app is for

The FilmGays is an invite-only queer film club. The app is the club's companion: members vote on the next film, book seats at screenings, and chat about the nights. Membership is personal to you — keep your account to yourself, and give us accurate information (your real name and a real photo of your face when the app asks for one, since film nights mostly happen in members' homes). The app is intended for adults. The club is run by the Community Admin, who you can reach any time at dimartinomirko@gmail.com.

Acceptable use — zero tolerance

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Content that is hateful, harassing, threatening, obscene, or otherwise objectionable will be removed, and accounts that post it will be ejected.

That's the whole rule, and it applies everywhere in the app — chat messages, film pitches, reactions, profile names and photos. Be who you are, be kind to the room. Don't harass, demean, impersonate or intimidate anyone; don't post hate speech, slurs, threats, sexually explicit material, spam, or anything unlawful; don't use the app to harm the club or its members.

Your content

You own what you post — your messages, reactions, pitches and photos stay yours. So the app can work, you grant the club a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store your content and display it in the app to other members (for example, your message in a screening's chat, or your name and photo on an attendee list). We may remove any content at our discretion, at any time, without notice — including anything we consider objectionable, even if it isn't listed above.

Moderation — reporting and blocking

Report. Any member can report any message — long-press it and choose Report. Reports are reviewed and acted on within 24 hours: offending content is removed and offending accounts are ejected.
Block. Any member can block any member. Blocking hides that member's content from you immediately.
Filtering. The app also filters abusive language automatically at posting time.

Account termination

We may suspend or eject an account that breaks these terms — abusive accounts will be ejected, as above. Because the club is invite-only, we may also end membership where someone is no longer part of the club. You can delete your own account at any time in the app (profile → Delete account) or by email — see Delete Your Data.

The service

The app is provided free, as-is, for the club. We work to keep it running well, but we don't promise it will always be available or error-free, and screenings themselves (dates, seats, venues) can change. To the fullest extent the law allows, the club isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't lawfully be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date; continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
